Melbourne Early Childhood Intervention

What We Do

Education Support

Early education for neurodiverse children and children with a disability can be tough. Exclusionary practices, misunderstandings, and inequity can be all too common.

Melbourne Early Childhood Intervention is here to help. We offer specialised education support for children and their families to help build capacity in all areas of their lives. These include:

• Inclusion Support
• Transition Support
• Observations of Learning Environments
• Disability & Child Advocacy
• Assistance with coordinating and planning supports, including educational funding
• Specialist Support for educational staff to help meet a child's needs

Learning Interventions

We also offer learning interventions to help neurodiverse children and children with a disability prepare for and excel at school. These include:

• 1:1 Literacy Interventions
• 1:1 Numeracy Interventions
• 1:1 Social Skills Interventions
• 1:1 Play Therapies in Early Childhood Settings

All of these early education supports are NDIS fundable if such supports assist your child in achieving their NDIS goals.

Meet Dean

Dean is the Early Education Specialist at Melbourne Early Childhood Intervention.

An Early Childhood Teacher with over a decade of experience in early childhood education and disability, Dean has worked in a range of environments. These include mainstream and special education schools, metropolitan and rural kindergartens, and family homes. This has equipped him well to assist children and their families through their early education journeys, particularly in regard to inclusion and best pedagogical practice.

His approach is holistic - focusing on all parts of a child's learning and development - and centres on interventions that are responsive and adaptable to his learner’s needs and goals. His practice emphasises the social elements of learning, beginning most importantly with the relationship between the learner and the teacher, and the inclusion and participation of all children in their learning spaces.

Dean holds an undergraduate degree in Linguistics and Philosophy, and a postgraduate degree in Early Childhood Education. He is a registered teacher with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
